My Dad served 25yrs in the REME, we visited the REME Museum today. No exaggeration it was fantastic, educational and incredibly interesting. The Crown Cafe is good as well, both the Museums and the cafe are very reasonably priced. This is a great afternoon out.
What an incredible place to visit, so much to see and learn, highly recommend a visit here. Cafe was good too. Interactive things for the young people. Reme shop. Memorial outside. Toilets are clean. Staff helpful and friendly.
Nice collection and plenty of information about what REME does. Exhibits include tracked recovery vehicles,trucks,rifles,medals and even a helicopter. Large car park outside. The cafe is excellent also.
I recently visited the REME museum as a scout leader helping out with my local group's summer camp. We took 25 young people (aged 8 - 14) to do the 'LEGO Engineering & Assault Course Youth Group Session' as advertised on their website, as well as touring the museum galleries. The education officer, Oliver, was absolutely brilliant with the kids and the whole day was suitable for all, including us leaders! Having spent a majority of the day here (10am - 3:30pm), we also thought that it was very good value for money. The museum itself was very interactive, informative, clean and modern: obviously having had a lot of money invested in it. The quotes around the museum from real life servicemen was a thoughtful touch. All in all, I'd highly recommend the REME museum to any youth group or school who are looking for a fun and educational day out, at a more than reasonable price.
Exhibits really instill a spirit of camaraderie in you. Well laid out, the engineering tasks throughout are a great addition. Very informative on the history of a core that is not always at the forefront of peoples mind, yet should be. Crown cafe is fantastic and cheaply priced with an ample seating area. Staff were very helpful for entire visit.
