Unfortunately not the best again.This is a lovely pub and we often stop off here for a drink, however both the food and the service really lets it down. This was our third visit here for a meal and each time either the slow service or the quality of the food had spoilt the visit. The only saving grace on this visit was one particular member of staff that seemed to be running around doing everything and tried desperately to keep everyone happy. I wish I had asked her name so I could sing her praises (tall young lady, with long brown hair ) The rest of the staff just seemed like spending time chatting with friends and family that arrived after us. I did note that the landlord and landlady were not working that day, so please note that some of your staff are letting you down. As for the food, it took nearly an hour to come , with the vegetables arriving nearly 10 minutes later. I didn't expect fast food, but this was ridiculous.
A beautiful public house, with a relaxing and welcoming environment. You pay very little for 5 star food! The best in chippenham.
I visited here at lunch time and had two courses from the lunch time menu, chili beef and sticky toffee pudding. Both were very tasty and a suitable size for lunch. The staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere in the place. In summer there are beautiful view from the patio, over the surrounding countryside.
Went for the 2 course set lunch. Although a couple of the items weren't available, alternatives from the main menu were offered. The food was excellent and properly home cooked style, the beer was spot on and the staff were attentive and polite. All together a lovely first experience. We will be back.
Always love a trip to the Dumb Post. This time it's a mid point stop off with my daughter on a bike ride. Staff are cheery and helpful and even though it was busy with Sunday Lunch they had no issues with our order of cheesy chips.. would recommend the views always.
